Freezing nights can ruin critical equipment, whether it's in your RV bay or boat engine compartment. This heater prevents that before it costs you time and money. It keeps those tight spaces at the right temperature with an automatic thermostat.
Water lines split open when they freeze. Batteries lose charge faster in the cold. Engines, pumps, and other critical systems might not survive those nights that fall below zero. That's exactly what this heater was built to prevent. At 400 watts, it has the power to keep small RV basements and boat compartments above freezing, and the forced-air design pushes heat into the corners where damage usually starts.
You have better things to do than sit there watching a gauge. That's why the thermostat is fixed to switch on at 40ºF and shut down at 55ºF, which is the range that'll keep your plumbing, batteries, and tanks safe. It's high enough to stop freeze damage, but it doesn't waste energy making it warmer than you need.
Putting any electrical gear in an enclosed space can make people cautious, especially around fuel. This unit is ignition-protected, which means it's been tested to make sure it won't ignite fuel vapors in engine compartments or bays. For boaters, that's critical for safety when mounting in the bilge. For RV owners, it means reliable operation even in tight spaces where safety standards really matter.
This setup is designed to get up and running in just a few minutes. The heater comes with a 15' marine-rated cord with a standard plug attached, so there's no need to hardwire it to your electrical system. Once you've placed it in a spot that gives you the best airflow, it'll be good to go. Plus, if you add the quick-release bracket (sold separately), you can pull it out when the season ends, then drop it back in next winter.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this Xtreme Heater small boat and RV heater. Now, this 400 watt Xtreme Heater is going to be a great solution for you to consider for maintaining warmth in smaller vessels such as single-engine boats, ski wake boats, runabouts, small deck boats, wave runners, jet skis, and even campers. Now, these heaters are designed to give you reliable freeze protection in confined areas. That's going to ensure that your boat remains operational even in harsh winter conditions.
So again, this is gonna be suitable for most boats up to 24 feet long. And in addition to engine compartments, this heater's also going to work well in smaller spaces like bathrooms, under kitchen cabinets, and around fresh water lines and AC units. That's going to ensure that those areas are protected from freezing. So if your boat is stored on a lift or a trailer, we do recommend choosing a heater that's one size larger than the suggested model, or a second heater, giving you optimal performance. So whether your boat is stored on a lift or on a trailer, this is gonna be an essential tool in your winterization process.
The true forced air heating circulates air more effectively and it heats more evenly, far more accurate, giving you far more accurate climate control while maintaining critical systems above freezing in cold weather. And on your screen, I just got a photo of an example of a similar heater from Xtreme Heaters, what this looks like mounted and in operation. This does have a fail safe design so it cannot overheat, and the heating technology is dynamic and self-regulating. The automatic thermostat is going to turn the heater on at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and then it's gonna shut off at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This does feature a corrosion-resistant fully anodized body, it is ignition-protected.
And this is gonna be a pretty easy installation. It has a pretty small footprint, has a pre-wired 15 foot long marine-rated power cord. And then your standard three-pronged plug. Remove that cap there, just give you a view of that. You are gonna get hardware to install this.
And let me give you some measurements. Looking at the overall width, we're sitting pretty close to about 5 3/4 inches. Let's call that length instead of width long. And then if you add the feet there, the mounting feet, that's gonna jump it up to about 6 3/4 inches. And then looking at the width or the depth, about 3 1/2 inches. And then the overall height, about 5 1/8 inches. So this is certified and independently tested. It's tested to US Coast ignition protected standards. It's MIL-SPEC tested for vibration, humidity, and high/low temperatures. This does not come with a mounting bracket of any kind. You're just gonna get the heater with screws. But we do also offer this with a quick-release bracket option. And that's going to allow you to easily, once you have that bracket installed, slide this into place on the bracket and then remove it if you don't need it, maybe during on season or whatever. So if you're interested in the quick-release bracket option with this heater, I'm including that model number there for you on your screen. You can just take that number and pop it in the search field of our website and that will take you to this heater with that quick-release bracket if you would rather choose that one instead. Now, we do have other different powered heaters from Xtreme Heaters. Again, this is 400, we've got 600, 800, and 1000, and different types of heaters as well. So if you have any other additional questions, whether it be about this one or any of the other ones that we carry, feel free to reach back out to us. Ultimately, we wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
I like that the Xtreme Heaters 400 watt heater (XH54FR) is small enough to tuck into tight spots but strong enough to keep a boat compartment or RV bay from freezing. I was impressed by the thermostat because it just kicks on at forty degrees and shuts off at fifty five, so you do not have to babysit it. The fan moves the heat around so you don’t end up with cold corners where pipes can freeze. If you have ever dealt with cracked water lines or dead batteries after a cold night, this is a simple plug-in fix that saves you the headache. It is a great fit for boats under twenty four feet or smaller RV compartments. It is not the best choice for a big engine room or a large RV basement there you would want a higher wattage model or even a second heater.
So far it works great. Put it in the underbelly of a 5th wheel and used the fixed mounting plate. Wasn't sure if I needed the quick disconnect bracket or the fixed but the fixed worked fine. Haven't had to switch it on yet but will let you know if I have any trouble.
